Today we launched a nifty little enhancement that will help to grab your reader’s attention quicker and direct them to just the right content faster.

Rename Your Topics:

Now you can rename the topic sections, including photos and videos as you see fit to best reflect YOUR business needs. That’s right. You can say buh-bye to the standard topic names if you’d like!

This enhancement will be helpful to you if…

  • You publish on a niche topic or industry news, as opposed to general or broad topics;
  • You have your content dialled in and are familiar with where your content is appearing, or;
  • You are using the new Content Draft feature to build your editions by hand.

How it works:

Take a look at the Topic Sections of my Weekly Moo, and you’ll see that I’ve customized the names to reflect the dairy and agriculture industry — Chocolate, Dairy Biz, Dairy Tech and so forth.

I relabelled each Topic Section to better reflect content categories in the dairy industry. My paper focuses mostly on the general dairy news, agriculture related news and then dairy specific products such as milk, chocolate and cheese. (yum!).

I’m familiar with my industry, my audience and know the tone of voice I’d like to set for me readers, so I’ll probably keep my Topics as they are. However you can change the labels on your Topics with each update if you like.

The renamed Topic Sections function exactly the same as our default Topic Sections: they are displayed based on the content we fetch, analyze and display for that edition. This means that they may vary from day to day.

If you’re happy with the Topic Sections on your paper as they are, then you don’t need to lift a finger. They’ll remain as is if you don’t customize them.

    Awesome – I was just about to ask if this is could be a roadmap feature and here it is! Whoop whoop!

    This is great but will I be able to be more specific to the arts now? When I first joined I wanted to be more specific to the arts locally on one paper. If you look at my blog my theme is very similar but more specific to a certain kind of art. However I wanted another venue to reach my local area specifically and the various artforms and local entertainment. So with this new feature are we able to change the page titles or are are we just dealing with “child pages” and drop down menus from the already named pages? Without being able to change the page titles really doesn’t help much with SEO in order to be more “semantic search” friendly for local residents

      Hi Arthur,

      Thanks for your comment. This enhancement specifically touches only on renaming, and not any other functionality.

      We’ve got some other enhancements in the pipe that will help with being able to better organize content as you’d like in the future.
