If you are using Paper.li newspaper embed widgets to bring fresh content to your website or blog, you definitely want to check out the new Auto Redirect feature we just released.

We love this new feature because it will help drive more traffic to publishers’ own websites and blogs, and because it was co-created with the people who inspire us most: our users.

For that reason alone, we’re confident this feature will hit a sweet spot for a large majority of community members!

The backstory:

For the past few months we’ve been working with publisher Morell Maison to support the launch of his new website Osargenews.com, a news site focused on delivering content and services to the global African diaspora.

The Osargenews.com provides a wide range of services and educational products to help connect and serve the African diaspora. Go to their website and you are welcomed by a massive interactive map of the world.

Click on your region and country of choice and you’ll find yourself reading the latest regional news for that country powered by Paper.li. It’s a truly innovative way of using Paper.li embeds to power a website or blog with topic relevant content.

The challenge:

Our role in Morell’s project was to support the implementation of more than 100 Paper.li Nomad embeds on the website (109 to date to be exact) and work together in finding ways to ensure that both visitors to the website, and subscribers to the 109 country specific Paper.lis, experienced a seamless journey between the two.

In working together, we discovered that driving subscribers to newsletters and people interacting with promotional tweets and posts to the Paper.li newstand, instead of the Osarge news site, left a disconnect between the two services. This would ultimately result in an enormous potential loss of traffic for Osargenews.com.

The solution:

To help support the launch of this mega-project, we developed the Auto Promote Redirect feature which offers the ability to simply redirect the traffic for a specific paper away from our newsstand to a specific page on a website where a paper.li iFrame or Nomad widget has been embedded.

Activating the Auto Redirect is ultra easy. You can read how here.  The Nomad widgets are available under our our free service to all users and the Auto-Redirect feature is a new Pro feature.

Future feature sneak-peak!

There are a couple of other features we implemented for Morell’s project that are not yet available but will be joining our Pro Package line up in the coming weeks:

  1. Subscribe widget: a small, customizable subscribe to my newsletter form that website and blog   owners place on their site  subscribe to their paper.
  2. Additional white labeling options: the ability to customize the subscription confirmation and confirmation success emails that are sent to new subscribers of a paper with your own text. As well the banner of your paper will be carried over.

These are going to be hugely helpful marketing tools in growing email newsletter subscriber lists and delivering a fully branded experience to people who subscribe to a Paper.li from a website and not the newspaper on the newsstand.

Give the Auto Redirect a try and let us know how it works for you. Thank you for the continued support and feedback you give us on what is working and what isn’t — and please keep it coming!
