When you decide to get serious about promoting your business on the internet, everybody tells you the same thing: “you need content”. If your business is online and you have a website, its content is what will allow your customers to discover it on Google. But that’s not the only reason why it matters, content can help you with many other aspects of your online presence such as:
- Marketing your services
- Providing helpful information to clients
- Showing your customers that you care
Think of the importance of online content comparing it to being at the dentist’s waiting room. What do you usually find there? Loads of magazines to read while you wait. During that period, you’re consuming some sort of content that either entertains you or gives you more information about procedures and treatments. It’s similar on the internet!
The difference is that your customers are not in your waiting room, they’re at home or on the road which means the best way to reach them is through online social networks. Now, as a business owner or manager, you face the challenge of searching and finding various pieces of interesting, informational and/or entertaining content to share with them. How do you do that?
With hashtags! Here are 3 easy and quick ways you can use hashtags to find content to share with your followers! Let’s jump into them.
Hashtags are a great way to either tag or categorize articles that you’re sharing on social media or on the other side of the spectrum, they’re perfect for content discovery! Twitter has a nice set of guidelines and instructions on how to use hashtags on their platform, but I want to touch on how to find content by searching for the right hashtags.
There are various ways you can search for hashtags to find articles relevant to your sector. One of the easiest ones is just Twitter search. This is what happens when I search for #tourism:
It took no time at all and I was able to find some cool articles about tourism from all over the world. Try it!
Okay, so we know how to search on Twitter for a specific hashtag, but, what if we don’t know what else to look for? Then you can use a tool called Hashtagify and type any keyword on the top right corner search, I for example typed #realestate and got this table with various other keywords or hashtags that are related to the sector I searched for with information of how popular they are. That way we can save time looking for content in the right places.
As you’ve probably realized, using hashtags to find topic-based articles is simple and convenient. But what if I told you that it could get even easier than that?
