What does social media mean to you? That's what we'd like to find out! Mashable's 3rd annual Social Media Day is just around the corner and the team at Paper.li would like to celebrate with you.
Social Media Day was launched in 2010 as a way to recognize the connected generation and the digital revolution. It's celebrated by enthusiasts worldwide through a series of Mashable sponsored events as well as self-hosted local events.
To join the festivities our Community Blog Editor Liz and I thought it would be terrific to hear your thoughts on social media and how it is transforming, or will transform, the world in which we connect.
Send us the one aspect of social media that you think people should pay attention to until the end of 2012. It can be anything - a channel , a tool, a practice, an attitude, an issue, a good deed, a business application, an innovation or just something cool that you saw and would like to share.
The answer should be one paragraph explaining what you want people to pay attention to, and why.
Here's an example:
Employee engagement! Social media can bring a company not only closer to its customers and end-users, but also its employees. I foresee more companies leveraging this and adopting practices that will enable better listening and engagement with employees as well as customers. The advantage would be greater transparency and trust between the company, the employee and the community. The result could be not only heightened customer and employee experience but also the delivery of more stellar services and products.
You can leave us a comment here, on our Facebook Page or via the Community Blog and we'll share them with the community June 30th. And you can keep up with all the latest and greatest news around the event with the Social Media Day Daily.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Social Media Day is returning to Detroit on June 30 for an event hosted by Livio Radio and MotorCity Casino Hotel connecting Detroit’s digital community with some of the best brands in the city.
ReplyDeleteSocial Media Day Detroit, presented by ExactTarget, started in response to Mashable’s invitation in 2010 to recognize the digital revolution happening worldwide.
This year’s theme is Detroit 2.0. We are celebrating the rebirth of Detroit: startups flourishing, businesses popping up (and moving) downtown, the entrepreneurial spirit that everyone constantly talks about, and how this naturally ties back to social media and its role in business.
Sponsors for the event include ExactTarget, Bizdom, Channel 95.5, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Venture Partners, Fathead, Quicken Loans, Social Media Club Detroit, Quizzle, Yelp Detroit, Alp Music, Campus Commandos, Core Merchant, HireStarts.com, Party Armor and PicketReport.com.
Social Media Day Detroit attendees can enjoy a digitally-connected, fun-filled day of great music, networking, food and drink specials in MotorCity Casino Hotel’s Sound Board. The event is Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available to anyone 21 or older atsmdaydet2012.eventbrite.com.
